Note: This article is currently out of date, since the Migration event. The Bytes 2.0 Proposal caused major changes to $BYTES tokenomics and effects how yield is calculated.
Yield is provided in Bytes for the next 10 years (subject to change). Byte generation is dependent on your citizen yield.
- The longer you citizen is uploaded, the higher your yield increases.
- The rate of increase is an additional 0.0027 bytes per day.
- This will equate to one extra Byte a day after upload is held for a year.
If you download your citizen (disassemble), your yield increase stops.
- If you re-upload your citizen, your yield increase is reset to 0.
- Avoid downloading citizens to ensure maximum yield over time.

How is $BYTE yield calculated?
Yield is an additive number calculated by:
- The “creditYield” of your ID.
- The “creditMultiplier” of your vault (optional).
An addition between the yields as per table below will be your daily bytes reward
Bytes can only be claimed as full numbers.
- If your yield is 2 Bytes per day, you will be able to claim 1 Bytes every 12 hours.
How do I claim $BYTES?
Refer to the $BYTES article for information on claiming.
•Go to this link.
- Connect your MetaMask to Web3.
- Select option 6.
- Click write and approve the transaction.
This will cost gas so it's preferable to claim your $BYTES during low gas times.
- To optimize yield claiming, ensure you claim as close as possible to a full byte being generated.
- As only full $BYTES are claimable, partially-generated Bytes will disappear as the counter is reset from claiming.
- E.g. If you have 2.8 $BYTES to claim, only 2 can be claimed while 0.8 would be lost.
Determine when a full $BYTES will be generated can be checked on the following website:
- Consider gas prices at the time of claiming.
