On November 4, 2022 the official Neo Tokyo twitter account posted a teaser trailer for the Code Breaker event. The text is believed to refer to December 3rd, 2022 and an event for the fourth Hand of the Citadel.

  • One of the earliest references to the new event for the fourth Hand, was a preview of the artwork for the character.

  • November 2: A Neo Tokyo News article titled, "The Citadel Is Under Attack" discusses a mysterious video released by @EllioTrades in the Purgatory chat channel within the Citadel (Neo Tokyo) discord. The article quotes the video with information that would not have been previously available to Outer Citizens or non-members. Some important quotes from the video include:
    • “The Citadel is under attack.’ He’s apparently been on the run for six months, and finally had his comms decrypted, allowing the mysterious attackers (UAEC possibly?) to find “all the chips.”

    • “We must fight. There’s no time left. This is our year. If we don’t fight back…well, you know. I need one of you cyber psychos to stand up. Shit, I need you all. It’s time for us to band together. I’m sick of this shit. It’s time for The Citadel to rise up!”

  • Nov 4: Code Breaker teaser drops.
  • Nov 22:
  • November 23: A new Codex is introduced to expand the lore around the event called The Book of Bytes. The Book of Bytes is released in seven tweets over multiple days.
    • The Book of Bytes 1.2
The strongest minds overwhelmed the 1s and 0s of this new cyberscape, and their overcranked neural networks sloughed off crystallized energy. From Aeons to Demons, from Mutants to Apes, mental agility took digital form.
      2/7[1]

    • The Book of Bytes 1.3
The UAEC realized the value of this emanating energy, recognized it could be used to build, to trade, to store value. And so, naturally, they set out to dominate it, to take control of the Citadel from the inside out.
      3/7[2]

      • Becker responds to this tweet, "transcend you say?"[3]

  • December 2:
    • The Book of Bytes Codex continues:

      The Book of Bytes 1.5
All seemed lost. “Bytes,” as these bundles of concentrated electrical energy came to be known, were flowing from the Elite minds that produced them straight into the coffers of the UAEC.[4]

    • The Book of Bytes 1.6
Realizing this power, this chi, this lifeforce, was their birthright, the Elite minds of the Citadel wrested control and began to capture the vibrational energy for themselves. The UAEC wanted the Bytes… but could not control the Citizens.[5]

    • The Book of Bytes 1.7
Each Citizen, from Glitch District to Citadel Tower, funneled their Bytes toward a central vault, protected from every attempt at corruption or theft. The ecosystem would be reclaimed: to each according to his power, from each according to his strength.[6]

  • December 3:
    • Code Breaker event starts. A registration form becomes available on https://neotokyo.codes with a request URL registerForHunt. The registration form is announced on Twitter.

The Dark Lord and the Architect gazed across their haven, a digital respite from a burning world. Flesh was temporary… avatars were not. The data must be preserved .online[7]

    • The Story of the Citadel 1.2
The enclave was brimming with Citizens, from the Tower to the Outer Districts. Beyond the Ravagers lay hordes of rats and glitching souls, yearning for cybernetic stability.
